Our Perspective on the Impact of ALPS Water Release and Real Estate Prices for International Clients

An examination of the trajectory of the real estate market suggests that the release of ALPS-treated water may not have a significant impact on property prices. While concerns have emerged in international media regarding the ALPS water release, prevalent viewpoints within Japan, supported by statements from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), propose that any resulting effects might be limited, with many downplaying the likelihood of substantial repercussions.

Current sentiments in Japan tend to lean towards the notion that, except for a minority with extreme opinions, the release of ALPS-treated water might not lead to substantial consequences. The endorsement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) provides added weight to this perspective.

Japan’s efforts to overcome deflation have contributed to wage growth, subsequently facilitating gradual increases in both consumer prices and real estate values. While this upward trend is noticeable, its magnitude remains moderate, reflecting a favorable shift away from the deflationary cycle.
